Delta Airlines officials told staff in a memo the company would impose a $200 monthly surcharge on employees who are not vaccinated against COVID-19. The memo also said Delta, the nation’s third-largest airline, would only cover sick pay for COVID-related absences for those who have been vaccinated but still get infected, according to BBC News.
The surcharge is scheduled to kick in Nov. 1 for those on the company-sponsored health plan, which covers most of Delta’s 75,000 employees. Company officials say the average hospital stay for COVID has cost Delta $50,000 per person.
