A Jason's Deli franchisee is slated to open the first Springfield location of the fast-casual cafe next month.
The 1724 E. Battlefield Road restaurant is scheduled to open May 5, said General Manager Charles Billen, who moved from Oklahoma City to manage the Springfield eatery.
Declining to disclose the name of the franchisee, Billen said the ownership group, Fort Worth, Texas-based Deli Partners, operates nine other franchises in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. Deli Partners of Springfield LLC was registered July 25, 2013, with the Missouri secretary of state by Zachary Garsek of Forth Worth.
Billen said the restaurant has hired about 80 to open the restaurant, and he expects that figure to wind down to 55 as the eatery adjusts to the market.
He said the prime location near Battlefield Road and Glenstone Avenue and adjacent to Battlefield Mall was the deciding factor to lease the space next door to Men's Warehouse. It had housed The Kid's Court clothing store before its owners, Rhonda Reese and Donna Lutjen, moved the business to 1111 E. Republic Road in 2011, according to

According to
FranchiseHelp.com, Jason's Deli franchisees can expect to invest up to $905,000 per store. The initial franchise fee is reportedly $17,500, according to the site.
Jason's Deli places a focus on fresh ingredients, a substantial salad bar and a variety of sandwiches, including reubens, pasta and loaded baked potatoes, Billen said.
The 1725 E. Battlefield Road site is part of a 19-acre group of properties at Battlefield and Glenstone owned by Federated Retail Holdings Inc., according to the Greene County assessor's website.[[In-content Ad]]
