Deere's quarterly sales, earnings fall

Deere & Co. reported a third-quarter drop in both profits and sales as global markets for farm and construction equipment remain weak.

Revenue dropped 11 percent to $6.7 billion. However, that was above analysts' expectations of $6.1 billion.

Net income was $488.8 million, down from $511.6 million a year earlier. Earnings per share were $1.55, well ahead of expectations of 94 cents.
