The Missouri Department of Economic Development has approved Enhanced Enterprise Zone designation for a portion of west Springfield.
The city of Springfield requested the status in January for a 6-square-mile area in the west part of the city, according to previous Springfield Business Journal coverage.
The city also requested EEZ status for a 20.7-square-mile North Springfield EEZ and a 63.4-square-mile Southeast Springfield EEZ. The state approved the southeast request in April, while the north Springfield zone awaits approval.
The EEZ program offers tax credits to businesses in specific geographic areas that meet certain criteria, including the potential to create sustainable jobs in target industries.[[In-content Ad]]
