The grant for $266,500 from the Community Development Block program of the Missouri Department of Economic Development will fund the construction of entrances to the plant from Highway 37 and Highway W and a feed mill. The mill will provide feed grain to area growers and producers.
The expansion also includes the addition of a southbound deceleration lane and a northbound left turn lane on Highway 31.
Investments into the plant are expected to create 27 jobs as it increases its production capacity.
“I am pleased that officials were able to work together to make this expansion possible, thereby creating new jobs and a greater demand for locally grown agricultural products,” said Gov. Matt Blunt in a news release.
The Community Development Block program administers grants and loans to cities with populations of fewer than 50,000 to assist business development and expansion.
