Two Springfield nonprofits and another in Brighton are among organizations statewide recently approved for tax credits by the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
The state department announced last week 19 nonprofits will receive $4.1 million in tax credits under the DED's Neighborhood Assistance Program, according to a news release.
The Good Samaritan Boys Ranch in Brighton was approved for $341,320 in credits; Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield was approved for $249,603; and the Springfield-based Greene County Guidance Clinic, which does business as Ozarks Counseling Center, was approved for $75,000.
Other area Missouri nonprofits approved for credits include two in Lebanon: the Council to Prevent Domestic Violence, $350,000, and the Laclede County Pregnancy Support Center, $337,807, the release said.
NAP tax credits are approved for nonprofits participating in capital campaigns or providing services in the areas of crime prevention, education, job training, physical revitalizations or community services. Businesses can donate cash, materials, supplies, equipment, technical or professional services, labor, real estate, or stocks and bonds in exchange for the tax credits. Credits can equal 50-70 percent of the total value, according to the DED.
