Dealership sells, owner plans to retire

Posted online
Gary Lipscomb, president of Springfield’s Lipscomb Auto Group Inc., today announced his plans to retire and sell his dealership to an investment group from northwest Arkansas.

The sale of the dealership at 3145 S. Campbell requires approval from Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Volkswagen and Porsche and is expected to close by Dec. 1.

The investment group is led by William Farmer, who has taken over as acting general manager for Lipscomb. He has 30 years of experience in sales and will be the general manager for the buyers when the sale is complete.

Lipscomb was unavailable for comment.

Lipscomb has been in the automotive industry in southwest Missouri for 30 years and previously spent 25 years as a certified public accountant.

“Our family is pleased that the new owners have shown an equal commitment to continuing our policy of trying to exceed our customers’ expectations,” he said in a news release. “It’s a bittersweet moment for my family.”[[In-content Ad]]
