Claims must be filed by Friday for those in Butler, Callaway, Cape Girardeau, Gasconade, Howard, Laclede, Madison, McDonald, Osage, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, St. Louis, Taney and Webster counties.
Disaster assistance is intended for those who are not eligible for benefits under the state’s regular unemployment insurance program, such as farmers and the self-employed. Funding for the program comes from the federal government, not state employer payroll taxes, which are used to finance regular unemployment benefits, according to the release.
