Deadline approaches for Christmas parade

Posted online
The Urban Districts Alliance is preparing for the annual Downtown Springfield Christmas Parade, and applications for float and band entries are being accepted through tomorrow.

The 2009 parade, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m., is dubbed "Sounds of the Season," and applications for bands and floats to participate must be postmarked by Dec. 1.

The entry fee for nonprofit organizations and churches is $150, while judged entries cost $250. Local and regional banks are encouraged to participate at no cost.

Parade applications are available by calling UDA Festival Manager Kathryn Vicat at (417) 831-6200 or at the UDA Web site below.

This year's parade will begin at Campbell Avenue and Mount Vernon St. The route will move north on Campbell to Park Central West, move east on Park Central West, through the square and onto Park Central East. From there, the route turns north on Kimbrough Avenue, then east on Trafficway Street and ends in front of Jordan Valley Park.[[In-content Ad]]
