O'Reilly Automotive Inc. Board Chairman David O'Reilly is making a $375,000 donation to Springfield Catholic Schools for technology.
O'Reilly and the school district announced the donation during a Wednesday ceremony at Springfield Catholic High School. The money will be invested in Smart Board technology, wireless Internet connectivity and mobile laptop computer labs for the elementary schools and high school.
"Financing capital needs in a private system is always challenging, and since public funds are not available, it becomes very important to receive support from within the school community," O'Reilly said in a news release. "It is gratifying to be fortunate enough to provide some of the needed support, which will allow Springfield Catholic Schools to maintain and further their excellence in the education of our children."
SCS Director Amy DeMelo said during the ceremony that O'Reilly is a "long-time supporter and friend" of the district.[[In-content Ad]]
