David Cameron to quit after UK votes to leave EU

British Prime Minister David Cameron plans to step down in October after the United Kingdom yesterday voted to leave the European Union.

Cameron urged the country to stay in the EU. However, the vote was 52 percent to 48 percent in favor of leaving, despite London, Scotland and Northern Ireland voting to stay.

Speaking after the vote, Cameron said "fresh leadership" was needed.
