A data breach at third-party vendor CaptureRx impacted patients at Jordan Valley Community Health Center.
Kristin Knapton, a spokesperson for Jordan Valley, confirmed the Springfield health care organization was among groups hit by the breach that occurred Feb. 6. She declined to disclose how many patients were affected; the Springfield News-Leader reported 12,000 local patients were impacted, saying Jordan Valley officials confirmed that number.
Knapton said Jordan Valley discontinued its contract with San Antonio-based CaptureRx in August but did not provide the reason for ending the business relationship. She said Jordan Valley previously contracted with CaptureRx to provide administrative services for the Springfield organization's 340B discount pharmacy drug program.
"CaptureRx is fully responsible for this breach; letters will be sent to all Jordan Valley patients affected," she said via email.
CaptureRx announced the breach in a news release earlier this month. The breach in February involved first and last names of patients, dates of birth and prescription information at more than 100 organizations nationwide, according to company officials.
