Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk A/S agreed to pay the United States $58.7 million to settle a series of lawsuits.
The U.S. Justice Department accused the company of illegally marketing its diabetes drugs, including Victoza, its top seller.
Among the allegations, Novo Nordisk was charged with misleading doctors by disguising salespeople as medical educators, as well as paying out kickbacks to doctors who prescribe their medications.
