Dallas-Fort Worth home starts climb 25 percent in 2Q

Posted online
Dallas-Fort Worth-area home starts were up by over 25 percent in the second quarter compared to a year earlier, according to data from Dallas-based Residential Strategies Inc. cited by the Dallas Morning News.

Homebuilders in the area started 7,533 houses during the three–month period, the most of any quarter in eight years.

The jump follows bad weather in the first quarter, which is thought to be behind the 20 percent decline in the first three months of the year.

At the end of June, 13,413 homes were under construction in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which represents a 7.1-month supply of housing inventory.
