Daimler Trucks to cut 1,250 jobs in N.C.

Daimler Trucks plans to cut 1,250 jobs in North Carolina in response to sliding demand.

The company announced it would eliminate 700 jobs in Mount Holly, N.C., and 550 at a plant in Cleveland, N.C.

"We see a fall in demand of about 10 percent for heavy trucks in North America this year. This is a response to lower demand," a spokeswoman told Reuters, noting the job cuts would be effective April 16.
