D3 Technologies acquired the business assets of Lafayette, La.-based Vector Graphics Inc.
With the purchase, the Springfield-based 3-D design consultancy and customized manufacturing technology firm adds service in the central U.S. and Gulf Coast regions. The deal closed Oct. 13 for undisclosed terms, said D3 President Kevin Schlack.
“We started with strategic partnership conversations, then ultimately, we realized there were tremendous synergies between our companies," Schlack said in a news release.
D3 also gains a five-member team of engineering, design, simulation, process automation and programming employees at the Layfayette office, bringing its total workforce to 46. Among employees who joined D3 are VGI owners Zed LaCour and Vaughn Klos. The team specializes in serving manufacturing and oil and gas companies. With the acquisition, VGI becomes a satellite office of D3, Schlack said.
"We will all benefit from the ... level of customer service, support, training and consulting services that D3 brings to the table," LaCour said in the release.
Both companies utilize the Autodesk platform, a software provider for 3-D design, engineering and entertainment software and services.[[In-content Ad]]
