D3 Technologies acquires partial assets of Wash. company

Posted online
Springfield-based D3 Technologies acquired a portion of Spokane, Wash.-based PacifiCAD Inc.’s assets.

With the purchase completed Sept. 6 for undisclosed terms, D3 gained control of PacifiCAD’s manufacturing book of business. The Washington firm will retain its architecture, engineering and construction business, said D3 President Kevin Schlack. Both companies resell software designed by Autodesk Inc., including its computer-aided design, or CAD, solutions.

Schlack said with the purchase, D3 gained a book of business comprising over 300 annual customers, as well as around 2,000 that purchase services as needed.

PacifiCAD originally sought to outsource its manufacturing business to D3, which has become known for that service among Autodesk resellers.

“They decided it might make sense to work on architecture, engineering and construction and sell their manufacturing,” Schlack said.

He said a team of five in Springfield and Spokane, Wash., would serve clients in the northwest United States.

D3, which largely provides 3-D design consultancy and custom manufacturing technology, also has clients throughout the central United States, Gulf Coast and mountain regions. The company was founded in 1998.
