D3 pens 4th acquisition since 2017

Springfield-based D3 Technologies is again expanding through an acquisition.

The 3D design consultancy and customized technology firm announced the purchase of St. Louis-based Cadmin Services Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed in a news release issued yesterday.

“Providing our clients with the service and support they have grown to rely on was the most crucial factor in making this decision,” said Paul Kessler, former president and CEO of Cadmin who joined D3 as a technical specialist, in the release. “It is paramount that the relationships we built with our clients maintain the same level of dedication they came to know from Cadmin but renewed and expanded through the vast capabilities and portfolio of D3.”

Led by President Kevin Schlack, D3 Technologies resells San Francisco-based Autodesk Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ADSK) 3D engineering software to manufacturers, often with customizations, and provides training to assist clients in utilizing the complex software, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

The Cadmin acquisition is the fourth for D3 since May 2017, when the purchase of MasterGraphics Inc.’s Autodesk manufacturing and plant business assets nearly doubled the size of the Springfield firm. Since then, D3 has purchased Brian J Mills Engineering LLC of Springfield and Grandville, Michigan-based JVH Engineering Inc., according to SBJ reporting.
