CVS Health, which administers drug benefits for employers, insurers and some state Medicaid programs, will begin limiting access to certain opioids.
The company plans to limit limit opioid prescriptions to seven days or less for some patients with acute pain who haven't been prescribed an opioid before.
The company also plans to reduce the maximum daily dose for patients with chronic pain.
