J. Howard Fisk Limousines owner Howard Fisk last night received the Pinnacle Award during the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau annual meeting and awards banquet at University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center.
The top award in five categories, the Pinnacle recognizes Fisk’s role in the travel and tourism industry since 1976.
With a fleet of roughly 65, Fisk Limousines offers vehicle rental and driver services throughout the region for limos, executive cars, passenger vans and motor coaches, as well as meeting and wedding management through J. Fisk & Associates Ltd. Fisk also has served on several tourism-minded boards, including the CVB, Springfield-Branson National Airport, Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.
CVB officials said Fisk has served as an ambassador of Springfield while informing clients about the city’s amenities.
The CVB presented four other Salute to Travel & Tourism awards. • Hospitality Award: Mother’s Brewing Co. for demonstrating outstanding hospitality to the traveling public and promoting growth of Springfield area travel and tourism. • Diplomat Award: Ted Hillmer, superintendent at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, as a government official, organization or employee who has provided significant support to the Springfield area travel industry. • Spotlight Award: Five Pound Apparel, representing a business not usually considered part of the travel and tourism industry but that has contributed to the advancement of travel and tourism locally. • Ambassador Award: Tim Flatt, executive director of National Christian Homeschool Championships, for generating significant economic impact through a major event in Springfield.
Fisk joins past Pinnacle Award recipients Tracy Kimberlin of the Springfield CVB, 2013; Dan Kinney, retired Springfield-Greene County Parks director, 2012; Thomas and Karen Sweeney of Gen. Sweeny’s Museum of Civil War History, 2011; and Gordon Elliott of Elliott Lodging, 2010.
