The Sixth Annual Salute to Travel & Tourism awards banquet and benefit April 28 will include “Dancing with the Springfield Stars” – a fund-raising effort to benefit Springfield Regional Arts Council and presented by the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Local dancing “stars” will be Jim Anderson, president of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce; Kristi Capel, 2006 Miss Missouri and a member of the KSPR news team; Kimberly Laburda, morning anchor for KSPR; Mary Norman, arts council board member; and Yakov Smirnoff, Branson entertainer.
Each dancer is paired with professional dance instructors from the area: Tamara Finocchiaro and Johnny Lambert with Pythian Castle; and Don McCarty, Andy Walls and Marie Edgar with Sonshine Performing Arts Academy Royal Ballroom.
Judges for the event will be Sally Hargis of the Springfield CVB board of directors and Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co., dancer Hing Wah Hatch and dancer Yolanda Jorge.
The event begins at the Oasis Inn & Convention Center with a 6 p.m. reception. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and the ballroom dancing begins at 9 p.m.

The event is black tie optional.
