CU is finishing its process of calling all of its approximately 75,000 customers who lost service in the Jan. 12–14 ice storm to confirm that power has returned. CU reminds its customers that damaged weatherheads – which connect service wires to a home or business – must be repaired by an electrician before power can be restored.
“This has been a long, difficult time for our customers, and we appreciate their remarkable patience,” said John Twitty, CU general manager, in a news release. “For the utility and the community, this will be the ice storm we will never forget.”
CU officials have estimated cleanup costs between $12 million and $15 million. That includes 1,300 contract personnel from companies in more than 12 states.
Any CU customers still without power are asked to call the utility at (417) 836-9000.
