The longtime spokesperson of City Utilites of Springfield has set his retirement date, and a successor has been named.
Joel Alexander, manager of media relations for the public utility, is scheduled to work his last day in the office on June 12, according to a news release. Jamie Presley, a member of CU's communications team since 2018, is his successor, effective immediately.
"His leadership in crisis communications and community relations helped shape the utility’s reputation for transparency and reliability," officials said in the release of Alexander.
Alexander has been a CU employee for 23 years. In his current role since 2023, Alexander also has past experience at KY3, according to his LinkedIn profile.
"I find myself called upon to serve the needs of our customers around the clock,” Alexander said in 2019, when he was recognized for Springfield Business Journal's Men of the Year awards. “When it comes to your power, light and utilities in general, these are basics of life and things people depend upon to be there.”
Presley most recently worked as CU's supervisor of marketing and communications.
