More than 100 city leaders, colleagues and members of the public turned out Thursday afternoon to send off retiring Springfield City Manager Bob Cumley, whose last official day on the job is Saturday.

Cumley spent 35 years with the city, starting as personnel director in 1972 and later serving as assistant city manager and deputy city manager before taking the top position in April 2006.

Deputy City Manager Evelyn Honea begins Sunday as Cumley’s temporary replacement. Arcus Public began conducting a national search earlier this month to find the next city manager.
