CU solicits feedback in CEO search

Posted online

City Utilities of Springfield is calling for feedback from the community as it searches for its next president and CEO.

An online survey, being conducted by search firm Korn Ferry, is available through July 15, according to a news release.

“As we develop and explore the pool of qualified candidates for this position, it’s important that we have input from our customers and community,” said Kristin Carter, chair of the Board of Public Utilities, which governs CU, in the release. “Our public utility provides many services, and finding the right person to fill this role is critical to leading our utility, and supporting our community, into the future."

The survey asks community members to weigh in on what qualities and characteristics the next CU CEO should have, as well as what the new leader's priorities should be and how they can support the utility's provided services. Korn Ferry is slated to summarize the information and provide it to the CU search committee.

Gary Gibson, CU's current president and CEO, is scheduled to retire from the utility in February 2025, according to past reporting.
