City Utilities of Springfield issued a scam warning to customers.
The warning indicates individuals may call or visit homes claiming to be an employee of CU and threaten to shut off the residence's utilities.
CU officials say company employees wear a uniform and have an authentic CU identification badge. If the person is suspect, call the utility company, officials said.
