Both City Utilities of Springfield and Empire District Electric Co. are reporting that electricity has been restored for thousands of customers who lost power during this week’s icy weather.

CU said that at 7:30 a.m. it restored electricity to all of its customers. Since Monday, about 11,000 outages were reported, out of about 106,000 electric customers. The utility finished its restoration efforts a day ahead of its projected deadline.

If CU customers are still without power, they are encouraged to call (417) 863-9000.

Empire on Thursday afternoon also reported that its restoration efforts were complete.

Any Empire customers who are still without power should call (800) 206-2300. The Joplin-based utility has about 215,000 customers in Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas.
