The City Utilities Board of Public Utilities will hold a public forum today to introduce the three finalists for CU general manager.
The discussion - to be held at CU's Earl L. Barkley Auditorium, 301 E. Central St. - are scheduled to be held in three time blocks:
- 1-1:45 p.m., Herman Morris Jr., city attorney for Memphis, Tenn., and former president and CEO of Memphis Light, Gas and Water.;
- 2:15-3 p.m., Wade Stinson, CU associate general manager of operations; and
- 3:30-4:15 p.m., Scott Miller, CU associate general manager of electric supply.
"It's a theater-type setting where the candidates are going to be able to talk directly to the public and some employees," CU spokesman Joel Alexander said, noting each candidate will make a brief introduction and will then be open to questions from the audience. The auditorium has space for about 100 people.
Alexander said the event will give the CU Board and the General Manager Search Committee a chance to gauge public perception of the candidates.
"This has been a collaborative effort from Day 1," he said. "They've made (the search) more of a hands-on process. This is that final step."
The board expects to announce in early May the successor for John Twitty, who will retire in June after two decades with CU.[[In-content Ad]]
