Crowds pour in as Bass Pro opens in Atlantic City

“Anybody here like to hunt and fish?” Bass Pro Shops founder John Morris shouted to a surging crowd of customers minutes before the doors opened at the Springfield company's new Atlantic City store Wednesday evening.

“Yeah,” the crowd replied. “We do, too,” Morris responded. “That’s why we have this shop.”

According to the Press of Atlantic City, around 2,000 people showed up for the opening, less than the predicted 8,000 to 15,000.

The first store in new Jersey for Bass Pro, company officials expect 1.2 million customers annually.
