CrossFit CEO Greg Glassman stepped down after online remarks regarding the killing of George Floyd caused athletes, gyms and sportswear firms to cut ties with the brand.
Glassman on June 6 responded to a post from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation that stated "racism is a public health issue."
"It's FLOYD-19," Glassman tweeted in response, making a nod to the killing of Floyd and the COVID-19 pandemic.
CrossFit Springfield owner Jeremy Mhire said he would "de-affiliate" from the brand following the comments.
