Cross-country charity cyclist to stop in Branson

Posted online
Cyclist and philanthropist Joseph Husslein, currently riding his bicycle cost-to-coast to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation, will stop in Branson on Oct. 8 for a day of rest, marking the halfway point of his charitable journey.

Husslein's trip - which he dubbed Little Big Ride - began Sept. 12 in Santa Barbara, Calif., and will end Oct. 22 in Charleston, S.C., according to a Big Brothers Big Sisters news release.

During his Branson stop, Husslein will sign autographs and meet guests in front of customizable toy car store Ridemakerz, on Branson Landing.

Five custom Ridemakerz cars will be auctioned off, with proceeds to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters, the release said.

The fundraiser is one of many being hosted on the Husslein trail. According to the Little Big Ride Web site, Husslein said he hopes to raise $1 million for the charity.

“I’ve decided to bike across America for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation because I see the opportunity to send a positive message to all about the power of believing in yourself, and more so, about believing that you can be a positive influence for others," Husslein said on the site.

So far, Little Big Ride has raised more than $64,000, according to the site.

Husslein, 47, has accomplished several cycling ventures in his lifetime, including: recruitment as a junior cyclist for the Tampa Bay Wheelmen, completion of the Maui, Hawaii, Haleakala climb and friendships with professional cyclists.[[In-content Ad]]
