Crane tips over at Dallas art museum, barely misses sculpture

Posted online
One of the most iconic sculptures at the Dallas Museum of Art had a close call Friday when a crane truck tipped over as it was working to set up a tent for a special event.

The truck, which could be seen resting on the roof of the museum Friday morning, landed mere feet away from “Ave,” a red steel piece by sculptor Mark di Suvero on the facility’s south lawn. The crane was setting up for a local church’s Easter service.

The sculpture was not damaged, but the truck operator was taken to Baylor University Medical Center. Early reports indicated his injuries were not serious, according to The Dallas Morning News.
