Crane damages downtown MSU building

A construction crane being used to repair the roof of Missouri State University's Jim D. Morris Center downtown collapsed Thursday, the Springfield News-Leader reports.

The collapse - which occurred because of a malfunction in the crane's arm - broke windows in a fourth-floor office and a third-floor common area.

According to the News-Leader, there were no injuries. The area where the accident occurred is currently blocked off and closed to traffic. The construction site has been shut down until a safety inspection is finished.
