CoxHealth, Walmart pair up for fourth area clinic

Posted online
CoxHealth will open its fourth Walmart clinic later this month at the supercenter at 2021 E. Independence St.

The newest Clinic at Walmart is set to open Aug. 31, according to a news release. CoxHealth opened its first Walmart clinic in March at the 3315 S. Campbell Ave. supercenter. Since then, the health system has opened two other Walmart clinics in Republic and Ozark.

The Walmart clinics serve as an alternative for people at least 18 months old who are sick enough to need care but not enough to merit a trip to the emergency room or urgent care clinic, according to the release. The clinics also are an option for those without insurance or those who have concerns about cost. Prices start at $25.

Walk-in service with upfront pricing is available seven days a week and during evening hours. Services are for acute and preventative care for common ailments such as sore throats, sinus infections, upper respiratory infections, earaches, bladder infections, insect bites and stings, cholesterol screenings, blood sugar testing, vaccinations, drug screenings and routine physicals.

Walmart has 37 in-store clinics in 10 states.
