CoxHealth will open its third Springfield location of The Clinic at Walmart on June 13 inside the 2825 N. Kansas Expressway store. With the opening of the location, CoxHealth will operate five Walmart clinics.
CoxHealth currently operates two Walmart clinics in Springfield at 3315 S. Campbell Ave. and 2021 E. Independence St., and one clinic each in Ozark and Republic, according to
www.walmart.com.
The clinics provide basic health care services such as vaccinations, flu treatments, cholesterol screening and blood sugar testing, among others, according to a CoxHealth news release.
“We know that seven-day-a-week walk-in clinics fill a community need for convenient and affordable care," David Taylor, vice president of CoxHealth Regional Services, said in the release. "That’s why we’re working with Walmart to expand access to that kind of quality care for all residents in our area."
The newest clinic will be open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Appointments are not necessary.
“Walmart is dedicated to serving our customers and our communities, and this type of clinic helps expand their access to quality health care,” said Bruce Shepard, Walmart’s director of healthcare innovations, in the release. “CoxHealth is a highly respected health care provider with experience operating walk-in clinics in our stores, so we know this will serve our customers well.”
CoxHealth had operated a
Walmart clinic in Branson in partnership with Skaggs Regional Medical Center. The clinic opened in November 2009, and the hospitals closed it in December 2010, because clinic volumes did not meet expectations, according to Stacy Fender, CoxHealth media relations coordinator.
