CoxHealth to open Hy-Vee clinic

Posted online
CoxHealth entered an agreement with West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee Inc. to open a clinic inside its Springfield store.

The clinic is scheduled to open by the end of January at the 1720 W. Battlefield Road supermarket, said Amy Lea, CoxHealth director of clinics.

“Our intent is to provide access to the community since we know that’s an issue,” she said.

CoxHealth will lease the portion of the store, immediately adjacent to its pharmacy, for undisclosed terms.

Lea said the clinic, dubbed Quick + Care, would provide a range of basic medical services, including ear, nose and throat remedies, sports physicals and vaccines. She said $65 is the starting cost for services.

The Hy-Vee deal came about after CoxHealth learned of a similar partnership the company has in Columbia stores with Mizzou Quick Care.

“They were all for it,” she said of the Springfield store management.

The clinic would be staffed by one full-time nurse practitioner, who would be aided by some 60 rotating employees at CoxHealth’s other grocery store clinics, Lea said. The health system operates five clinics in area Wal-Mart stores - three in Springfield and one each in Republic and Ozark.
