CoxHealth announced two management promotions in the past week.
Darren Bass, president of Cox Monett Hospital, was promoted to vice president of clinical services for the health care system. Separately, Dr. Shelby Hahn was named program director of the Cox Family Medicine Residency.
Bass, a 20-year CoxHealth employee who's led the Monett hospital since 2015, is slated to take on his new systemwide role on Jan. 1, 2022, according to a news release. In his new role, he succeeds Genny Maroc, who is slated to retire Dec. 31.
Maroc, who served as president of Cox Monett 2011-13, will return to the hospital to serve as interim president while a search is conducted for a permanent successor to Bass.
During Bass' tenure, CoxHealth opened a newly constructed $42 million Monett hospital in January. Over the summer, the health care system announced the donation of the former Monett hospital building to Life360 Community Services, the charitable nonprofit arm of Life360 Church, according to past reporting.
In a separate news release, CoxHealth announced Hahn's leadership shift at Cox Family Medicine Residency. Associated with the residency since 2007, Hahn in 2014 became associate program director and this year helped expand the residency to Jordan Valley Community Health Center.
“We are very excited about Dr. Hahn’s willingness to serve in this role and what it will mean for physicians who train through our residency,” said Dr. Shawn Usery, chief medical officer at CoxHealth, in the release. “His great depth of knowledge and experience position him for success in this role, which is augmented by his compassion and care for our patients.”
Hahn succeeds Dr. Kyle Griffin, who has served as program director since 2014, according to the release. Griffin decided to devote his time to training resident physicians.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
