CoxHealth patient treated with experimental COVID-19 drug

CoxHealth treated its first COVID-19 patient with the experimental treatment drug remdesivir. The patient is now on the mend.

CEO Steve Edwards said it's unclear if the 22-year-old woman, who also was given plasma from people who have recovered from the virus, recuperated because of the remdesivir.

A recent federal government-sponsored study suggested remdesivir could starkly reduce recovery times for COVID-19 patients.
