CoxHealth moving Walnut Lawn urgent care

Posted online
Cox Walnut Lawn Urgent Care is moving to make room for CoxHealth's Meyer Orthopedic Center expansion project.

The Walnut Lawn Urgent Care facility is moving permanently to The Turner Center, at 1000 E. Primrose St., starting Tuesday morning. The new location is next door to the existing CoxHealth Pediatric Urgent Care facility on the Turner Center's ground floor, and it will offer the same services as the Walnut Lawn location.

The move gives the health system the needed room to complete the new $3.3 million orthopedic center, which entails renovations of and an addition to the health system's Walnut Lawn facility.

Meyer Orthopedic will be the centerpiece of CoxHealth's $47.8 million Orthopedic Center of Excellence, which will be completed in multiple phases, according to previous Springfield Business Journal coverage. Meyer Orthopedic Center will include 35 private orthopedic patient rooms, a 15-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit and a 35-bed transitional care unit.

Completion of Phase I, the Cox Surgery Center, is slated for November, while the rest of the project should be finished by February.
