Last edited 3:04 p.m., June 3, 2013CoxHealth and Mercy were among the top 10 job posters in the state during May, according to the most recent Missouri Economic Research and Information Center data.
During the month, hospitals statewide had 3,114 job postings, the highest among industries, followed by banks, at 1,083, and insurance companies, at 1,031, according to a news release outling MERIC's Missouri Real Time Labor Market Summary.
However, the occupation with the highest number of job postings last month was truck drivers, at 1,178. At No. 2 was registered nurses, with 1,158 job postings.
Job postings by employer were not listed in the release. According to Springfield Business Journal archives and list research,
CoxHealth and Mercy each employ roughly 10,000 locally. The health systems combined have
nearly $400 million in capital projects and investments to expand local operations in the works, and in all, the health care providers expect to create at least 350 new positions during the next several years.
Among metropolitan areas in the state, the Springfield metro area ranked third in the number of job postings, with 2,577 in May. St. Louis topped the list at 17,145, following by Kansas City, with 9,486, according to the release.
