CoxHealth hiring 75 for south hospital expansion

CoxHealth is scheduled to host two hiring events next week to fill needed positions for its new patient tower, an expansion at its south Springfield hospital.

The health care system will seek 75 full- and part-time employees during events scheduled 9 a.m. March 16 and 1 p.m. March 20 in Foster Auditorium at Cox South, 3801 S. National Ave.

Spokeswoman Michelle Leroux said the extra 340,000 square feet on 10 floors means environmental services, patient safety and dietary employees are in demand.

“We’re needing more people at the Cox South location, in these specific departments, because Cox South is now a much larger facility with more ground to cover,” she said via email.

CoxHealth, which employs nearly 10,000 systemwide, is looking to hire the new employees quickly to allow time for training and orientation ahead of an expected mid-July opening date of the expansion for patients.

First announced in April 2013, the $130 million patient tower is funded by $200 million in bonds CoxHealth issued in April 2013. The expansion includes 28 private rooms in a neonatal intensive care unit on the ground floor and 32 private postpartum nursing and support spaces on the second floor, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
