CoxHealth on Feb. 29 purchased the former Arnold Vision building at 1011 E. Montclair St., and the health system plans to relocate its pain management clinic to the facility April 21.

The Regional Center for Pain Management has operated for more than 10 years at Cox North hospital, 1423 N. Jefferson Ave. Once at the Montclair Street facility, the clinic will be about a mile north of Cox South hospital, 3801 S. National Ave.

The clinic’s medical director, Dr. Sadie Holland, said she’s excited about the move because her staff and services will expand and the clinic will be closer to the majority of referring physicians. Holland, a doctor of osteopathic medicine, hopes to add several support staff and at least one more doctor to her staff of about 10.

The Regional Center for Pain Management, which will be renamed CoxHealth Center for Advanced Pain Management after the move, provides treatment for various pains, including, back, neck, abdominal, cancer-related and post-surgical pains.

Services include nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, joint injections and radiofrequency nerve ablation, but a more multidisciplinary approach will be adopted after the move with the inclusion of physical therapy, nutrition counseling and behavioral health.

Dave Murray of R.B. Murray Co. represented previous owners Drs. Paul and Priscilla Arnold on the sale of the 10,514-square-foot building that listed for $2.9 million. The sale price was undisclosed.

The husband-wife team of ophthalmologists built the facility in 2004 but closed it last June because of what they said was an anti-competitive medical market in Springfield. Their business suffered because they were independent doctors who didn’t get referrals from CoxHealth and St. John’s, Paul Arnold said. They’ve since joined Sneed Eye Associates in Mountain Home, Ark.
