Springfield-based insurance provider Cox HealthPlans has been awarded the 2011 TriZetto Integrated Healthcare Management Power Award for Operational Excellence.

The award, presented recently at the TriZetto Group's Payer Conference in Orlando, Fla., is given to companies that utilize Greenwood Village, Colo.-based TriZetto Group Inc.'s information technology products that aim to improve the efficiency of network management, according to a TriZetto news release.

“TriZetto’s QNXT enterprise core administration system has put us on the path to timely compliance with regulatory requirements,” Cox HealthPlans President and CEO Jeff Bond said in the release.

TriZetto CEO Trace Devanny said while health reform is difficult for the industry, it also is bringing opportunities.

"We firmly believe that (integrated health care management) can drive dramatic improvements in both affordability and improved outcomes for the U.S. health care system," Devanny said in the release. "We congratulate and recognize Cox HealthPlans ... for achieving outstanding, tangible results in driving efficiencies and improving the cost and quality of care.”

According to a separate news release from Cox HealthPlans, the company set itself apart in four areas:
  • Enhancing automation of business processes, resulting in increased efficiencies;
  • Improving care management;
  • Providing more effective contract modeling and pricing; and
  • Bumping up collaboration through integrated technology.
Cox HealthPlans, an affiliate of CoxHealth, provides insurance solutions to approximately 45,000 members in Missouri and in six other states.
