Cox Communications buys remainder of KC fiber-optic company

Atlanta-based Cox Communications has purchased the portion of Kansas City-based Unite Private Networks it did not already own.

Cox plans to merge fiber-optic company UPN with Charlotte, North Carolina, telecom firm Segra.

Cox became the majority owner of UPN in 2016.
