The Missouri Foundation for Health has provided a $389,402 grant for Cox College to fund its Outreach Program to Expand Nursing proposal.
The college will use the funds for equipment and personnel, and to purchase two additional human patient simulators for the college's nursing resource center: a Noelle maternity simulator and a Hal pediatric simulator, according to a news release.
As a part of the OPEN proposal, the funds additionally will expand Cox College's accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program, allowing the hire of a clinical adjunct instructor for Monett.
"Now we will be able to offer the BSN accelerated program closer to home for students from the Monett area," Anne Brett, Cox College president, said in the release. "A significant portion of our graduates seek employment where they have had their clinical experience."
CoxHealth has a nonprofit
community hospital located in Monett.
The grant also will allow the college to hire a full-time clinical coordinator, who will manage contracting with clinical agencies and track student clinical experiences, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
