Cowboys owner's firm to buy energy company

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ Comstock Resources agreed to purchase Covey Park Energy in a $2.2 billion cash-and-stock deal.

Jones plans to invest another $475 million for newly issued shares to remain Comstock’s largest shareholder.

Combined with Covey Park, Comstock’s net daily production would be about 1.1 billion cubic feet equivalent with some 2,000 net drilling locations, according to the Houston Business Journal.
