The snack bar in the lower level of the Greene County Historic Courthouse reopened this morning with a new name and a new look.

Owner Rose Habermehl and county officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Rose’s Courthouse Café.

The café offers made-to-order breakfast and lunch items including cold and hot sandwiches, soups, salads, baked goods, espresso drinks and daily specials. Habermehl used a $90,000 U.S. Small Business Administration loan to renovate the space that now features separate kitchen and dining areas, a stamped concrete floor, bistro seating and Wi-Fi access.

Hours are 7 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Friday.

Habermehl previously operated Café 641 in The Library Center.

A public snack bar has operated in the courthouse, 940 Boonville Ave., for at least 35 years, according to a county news release. The restaurant had been closed since previous operators Troy and Danielle Kelley were dismissed for failing to keep regular hours of operation, according to past SBJ coverage.[[In-content Ad]]
