Court puts former Lathrop & Gage lawyer in KC on probation

Posted online
The Missouri Supreme Court has placed a former Kansas City partner at law firm Lathrop & Gage on a two-year probation for violating the rules of professional conduct.

The violation occurred when Allison Bergman was employed at Lathrop & Gage and served as the outside general counsel and corporate secretary for the Kansas City Terminal Railway Co.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, Bergman failed to disclose a romantic relationship with Kansas City Terminal Railway Co.'s then-president, Chuck Mader, to its board of directors. Court documents indicate the relationship began before Bergman started her role with the company.

Bergman was terminated as the railway's general counsel in February 2012, the same day Mader was fired.
