Couple slays 14 in shooting at Calif. meeting

A 28-year-old health inspector and the woman he lived with yesterday killed at least 14 people at a San Bernardino, Calif., meeting inside a social service center.

While the motive is unknown, police quote some witnesses saying Syed Farook, 28, left the annual holiday party at the Inland Regional Center angry and returned with his accomplice, Tashfeen Malik, 27.

At least 17 others were injured after the couple — who met online and who became acquainted in Saudi Arabia — entered the building in body armor and armed with assault rifles and handguns.

Both Farook and Malik were killed by police after fleeing the scene in a dark-colored SUV.
