County offers tips for busy polls

Posted online
Greene County polls have been “very, very busy” since opening at 6 this morning, according to Election Coordinator Betty Young, and overall turnout is expected to exceed 60 percent.

Officials with the county clerk’s office are encouraging voters to avoid peak times of the day to lessen congestion. Most polls are busiest between noon and 1 p.m. and after 4:30 p.m.; they close at 7 p.m.

Voters also are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the ballot and make their decisions before arriving. Click here for a sample ballot.

The county is reminding voters that the McBride School polling place on Golden Avenue is open, despite nearby highway construction. Voters are asked to use Scenic Avenue and Weaver Road as an alternative route. Click here for a list of all Greene County precincts.

Straight-ticket voting is no longer an option on the ballot, but voters are not required to make a choice on every office or issue. Items are listed on both sides of the ballot.[[In-content Ad]]
